Coffee Mornings in the Clubroom
On the first Saturday of every month during the club year members meet from ten to twelve o'clock for a cup of coffee or tea and some delicious treats. The coffee mornings are always the perfect event to catch-up with friends and to meet new members!
At the same time the library is open to take out some books. We have a great selection!
Prosecco and Panettone
This year we celebrated the New Year with Prosecco and Panettone at the Restaurant L'Approdo, Porto Mappo, Minusio on 3rd January, 2026. 53 members attended.
Cheese Fondue
On Thursday, 29th January, 33 participants arrived by cable car in beautiful sunshine on the snow covered Cardada and walked to the Ristorante Colmanicchio. The Cheese Fondue was delicious and the atmosphere was great.
Annual General Meeting
On 25th February 57 members met at Ristorante Al Parco, Muralto Hall. The agenda for the day was concluded efficiently, pleasantly, and without controversy. The following aperitif and dinner were enjoyed by everyone.
Outing - Pilatus Aircraft Factory
31 members met for a lunch at Restaurant Allmendhuisli. Our Rossi Bus driver took us into the factory. After an captivating introduction, retired Pilatus employees guided us in four groups through the whole factory. What a fascinating place! After more than two hours walking our driver picked us up and brought us safely back to Locarno.
Outing - Silk Museum Como
On Wednesday, 18th March 36 members gathered at Locarno Railway Station to be taken by Rossi Bus to Como where they were guided in two groups through the Silk museum telling the story of the entire production process, from the silkworm to the colored yarns, from hand printing to fashion collections.
Aperitif @ Hotel La Palma au Lac
In the redesigned Campari Bar 26 members met and enjoyed the casual gathering on a early Friday night
Ponant - Cruises and Expeditions
Marlise Eijking invited us to embark on board on one of the prestigious cruise ships to discover exceptional destinations: from the ice of Antarctica to the lagoons of the Pacific, …. followed by an aperitif with a rich buffet of appetizer’s sponsored by Ponant.
Excursion to the Renovated Castelli di Cannero
The Anglo Swiss Club Locarno rounded off the first five months of its club year with a special highlight. Forty members took part in an excursion to the recently renovated Castelli di Cannero, expertly organised by Daniela.
Thanks to a well-coordinated car-sharing arrangement, participants met in Cannobio on the morning of Saturday, 30 May. From there, an electric boat transported the group to the historic fortress complex on Lake Maggiore, which has once again been opened to visitors following an extensive restoration completed last year.
Today, the Castelli di Cannero offer a modern and immersive visitor experience. Historical research and innovative technology combine to create a fascinating journey through time, bringing to life the rich history of the region and the people who shaped it.
After the visit, the group returned by boat to Cannobio, where they enjoyed lunch together in the shaded garden of Antica Stallera. The relaxed setting provided an excellent opportunity for lively conversation and social interaction – an important part of club life.
